This is the first quarterly Mac threat landscape review in the Security Bite series. And the first quarter of this year was pretty quiet on the iPhone front. When it comes to the walled fortress of iOS, no news is basically good news. So, in this Q1 review, I’m going to specifically be going over the Mac malware landscape and what it looks like, and where things seem to be heading.

I’ll look back on every report I covered, every guest I had on the Security Bite Podcast, and most of the samples that crossed my desk over the past three(ish) months.

Apple AI glasses launch pushed back to late 2027, Vision Air to arrive by 2029: report

Apple has been working on AI smart glasses for a little while, both to compete against Meta Ray-Bans and to provide a hardware platform for Siri and its Visual Intelligence features. While they were originally set to be announced at the end of this year and debut early next year, that’s now been delayed, with a launch now set to take place by the end of 2027, per Bloomberg.

On the flip side of things, a cheaper and lighter version of Apple Vision Pro, dubbed Vision Air, may arrive as soon as 2028, potentially 2029.

Report: New Apple TV, HomePod mini set to launch this fall; Siri Remote ‘refresh’ possible

According to the latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Apple is gearing up to finally launch new versions of the Apple TV and HomePod mini later this year – alongside the long-awaited release of next-generation Siri in iOS 27. These devices will largely be chip upgrades, though the Apple TV may get an updated Siri Remote.

Upcoming Beats headphones teased by Lamine Yamal: New design, pink colorway

Last week, reports emerged around Apple developing a new pair of Beats over-ear headphones, with the FCC leaking an outline of the headphones, model number A3577. Now, leading into the world cup, Lamine Yamal has just openly teased the new Beats headphones in an Instagram post, likely to be a successor to Beats Studio Pro.

Earlier this Spring, Apple unveiled Apple Business, combining Apple Business Essentials, Apple Business Manager, and Apple Business Connect (including Apple Maps Connect) into a single platform. While the free device management was the key aspect of the announcement, the integration of Apple Business Connect into an IT-managed portal solved a problem that I am not sure people were aware of.
